Meet Bidlack Photography

Hi! I’m Jess, and I’ve been a photographer serving the Baltimore, Maryland area since 2012. I live here with my husband, daughter, and two cats – Spoops and Merlin.

I’m a maker at heart and happiest when I’m working on something creative. Outside of photography, you’ll often find me sewing, belly dancing, painting, knitting, crocheting, embroidering, working in Blender, or crafting costumes. Some of my favorite places are the Maryland Renaissance Festival and our many local fairy festivals to listen to music, see all of the beautiful costumes, and find some new treasures from talented vendors.

When I’m not crafting, I’m probably curled up with a good book and a cat, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, or shopping for even more yarn at fiber festivals. My family and I also share a love of gaming, whether it’s board games around the table or getting very competitive with our video games (especially Mario Kart!).

I have a deep appreciation for nature. Hiking, camping, and gardening are my happy places, so much so that I went back to school and graduated with a degree in environmental science in May 2024. It was an incredible experience and enhanced my connection to the natural world even more.

If any of this resonates with you, I’d love to connect! Whether you’re into crafting, gaming, or wandering through the woods, I’m always excited to meet new friends! 🙂

I can affirm that I am an inclusive artist who is eager to respectfully serve everyone – all families, bodies, genders, and abilities. Please reach out and we can discuss how to create the best portrait experience for you!

Having John and Jessica shoot our wedding was like having two friends do the honors- it just so happened that these friends happened to be really good at taking pictures. When a medical emergency meant that we needed to revise the photo schedule 3 days ahead of the wedding, they were able to accommodate by arriving earlier than planned. They have a great way of encouraging people to be themselves in front of the camera- they gave this pair of introverts enough direction to set up some great pictures, but otherwise kept the portraits from feeling performative or scripted. And, they delivered photos like these a week in advance of the estimated delivery date. They were fabulous to work with in all respects and I'm so glad that we chose them to capture the memories of our day!

John and Jessica were perfect. They shot our wedding at Westminster Hall in Baltimore, MD on October 29, 2016. We honestly could not have asked for a better team to work with. Multiple people at the wedding complimented how nice and professional they were and also well they blended into the crowd. The funny part is I don't even remember actually seeing them take any of the fantastic candid shots they got, which is a testament to how good they really are. We got our pictures back in a very timely fashion and they are fantastic. From our first meeting until the handing over of our photos it was the perfect experience. As an added bonus they provided us with a beautiful wooden carved box with our prints along with the USB containing the files. This was on top of the online gallery. The pricing was extremely competitive, honestly a steal with their skill level. We are just so happy and pleased with their service I could go on for days. Hire them. That's really the best advice I could give any soon to be married couple!

BP captured the big and small awesome moments that we would have missed, with fun, beautiful, artful shots. They were flexible and unobtrusive; they understood what we wanted-unique, candid shots of guests and wedding party alike, and delivered more than we expected. We look through our shots often, and feel like we're right back there, having a blast! We felt well-cared-for and highly recommend Bidlack Photography.
